The basis of The TOTEM-theatre’s arts education activities is the reinforcement of the esthetic growth of children and young people. After the performance there is always discussion between the audience and actors. This is to help the audience to process the experience. The arts education long-term process-type projects are mainly focused on the school-age children on the lower grades of the basic school in Espoo. The participants have received training in creative dance expression and physical drama expression during the project. An essential element of the arts education activities has been the drama performance: the participants have seen a performance from The TOTEM-theatre repertoire. Together, the workshops and the theatre performance have supported the discovery of the participant’s own individual ways of expression, and strengthened the understanding of the meanings of art.
